ChatGPT has CHANGED!? Say hello to CODE INTERPRETER

Just when you thought you were getting a handle on AI and ChatGPT, if you look at ChatGPT this morning, you won’t notice anything different, but ChatGPT has CHANGED!  Say hello to CODE INTERPRETER!

What is ChatGPT’s CODE INTERPRETER?

The Code Interpreter allows ChatGPT to do so much more than just generating text as we have been doing since we started using this rather amazing tool.

It enables the chatbot to analyze data, create charts, solve math problems, and even edit files. This feature also supports file uploading and downloading, which was previously unavailable in ChatGPT.

So, what exactly is the significance of this new feature? Well, imagine having an AI-powered assistant that can not only generate insightful text but also handle complex data analysis tasks.

What can ChatGPT’s CODE INTERPRETER do?

I asked ChatGPT to provide a list of five real-world examples of how one might use the new Code Interpreter, and here is what it came up with:

  1. Data Analysis and Visualization: The code interpreter in ChatGPT allows users to perform data analysis tasks and create visualizations. It enables tasks such as analyzing spreadsheets to identify customer segments in a market, decomposing seasonality patterns in data like Bitcoin prices, and generating graphs and charts to visualize data
  2. Image Animation: With the code interpreter, users can animate images easily. By following a step-by-step guide, you can bring images to life and create captivating visual effects
  3. File Manipulation: The code interpreter allows you to perform various file operations. You can upload local files in multiple formats, such as PDFs and videos, and use the interpreter to convert file formats, trim videos, or perform other file-related tasks
  4. Code Writing and Snippet Generation: ChatGPT can generate code snippets based on human language prompts. It assists in writing code, generating boilerplate code, adding documentation, and even debugging code
  5. Task Automation: The code interpreter in ChatGPT can automate tasks that involve code execution. You can utilize it to perform tasks like data cleaning, preprocessing, and generating data visualizations. It saves time and effort by simplifying complex tasks into a few simple sentences and file uploads

With this feature, subscribers can now leverage ChatGPT’s analytical prowess to visualize data, solve intricate mathematical problems, and even perform code-dependent tasks. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

Moreover, ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter feature supports the integration of third-party services, providing users with access to an array of tools and functionalities. From Expedia to productivity apps, these add-on features further enhance the capabilities of ChatGPT, essentially putting into the hands of the ‘average person’ the capabilities that previously we only had by using varied apps and programs.

By equipping ChatGPT with this powerful feature, OpenAI apparently aims to provide users with a comprehensive AI assistant that not only excels at generating text but also possesses advanced analytical capabilities.

So, ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter seems to be yet another leap forward into this new and very strange world in which we already live – but note, it is only available for paid subscribers of ChatGPT.
